Candy Land

Fruit loops, Marshmallows, Cookies, Suckers, Candy Canes, Gum Drops, and Waffle Cones stuffed with Salt Water Taffy.

No this isn't a recipe for some weird sweet treat, it is the decorations on our Christmas Tree this year.
(now if only I could take a good picture so you could see how cute it truly is)

I was inspired by one of my favorite childhood games that I loved to play
Candy Land. I wanted to go back in time a bit, to a time where the pace of life was a bit slower, life was more simple, things were hand made, and family gathered to enjoy each other and the season.

Our motto for this year is;
"Live Simply, Give More, Expect Less".

I love the way our tree turned out, it really takes me back to cherished memories of days gone by.
So what special Christmas memory of days gone by, gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?

How fun! An edible Christmas tree! My mom has a lot of really cool Christmas decorations that she's had since the dawn of time. I always loved busting them out of storage and setting them all out. It really got me in the Christmas spirit.

That has been the only problem with the decorations, mysteriously the salt water taffy keeps dissapearing out of the waffle cones???
Darn Christmas Mice. (hee,hee)

Such a great idea, I love it! The cone filled with candy is the cutest. That would never last in my house, we'd have a bare tree by Christmas. =)

I remember always getting up early to open our gifts and do Christmas breakfast (while listening to obscene music...hahaha) then wearing one of our new Christmas outfits and heading out to each set of grandparents homes to spend time with family.

Yeah, I remember that too, so funny. I guess that is the price you had to pay for having totally cool parents (ha,ha) who blasted their new cd's they got for Christmas instead of playing the traditional Christmas music.
