THE COWBOY CODE

Cowboys had their own Code of Ethics;

They were Men of Honor, Their "Good Name" was among their greatest possessions, their hand-shake sealed a deal you could count on. They were honest hard working men, they made their own way in life, and lent a helping hand to their neighbor.

According to Author James P. Owen Author of Cowboy Ethics, he sites 10 basic Codes the Cowboy lived by.

1. Live each day with courage

2. Take pride in your work

3. Always finish what you start

4. Do what has to be done

5. Be tough, but fair

6. When you make a promise keep it

7. Ride for the brand

8. Talk less, say more

9. Remember some things aren't for sale

10. Know where to draw the line

As I reflect about my Dad today

(93 years ago today God sent a precious gift to earth, 8 years ago this month he brought him back home to heaven)

These Cowboy Codes came to mind. While my Dad was born in Texas, therefore he did have some "cowboy" ways, even though he was not a true working cowboy. But he was a man of honor, he was honest and hard working, he shared many of the traits that Cowboys had.

I guess you could say he had his own set of "cowboy" code of ethics. He taught his code of ethics to me, not by word, but by deed and example.

Family first and foremost

Unconditional love and genuine kindness

It's better to give than to receive

Find the good in people

Have a sense of humor ~ Be happy don't worry

Work hard, play hard

Play the hand you're dealt ~ If life gives you lemons make lemonade

Being "rich" has nothing to do with money

Root for the home team

Judgement is for God, not Man

Actions and deeds speak louder than words

Always carry some hard candy in your pocket

No matter what the weather is like, it's always good enough for ice cream!

He taught me so many things, but I think these were the basics that encompassed pretty much everything else.

I am so grateful to my Dad for his example, and for his code of ethics. He was such a genuine and good man. He left a Texas size example for me to try and live up to, and an amazing and loving Legacy. I hope I can honor his memory. I am so thankful for the cherished memories I have of him, he will forever be in my heart.

PARK FUN

I had to go into Vegas, so Nick, Melanie and Mason rode along with me for the day. We took some time to stop at a nice park and get out and stretch.

Mason is so funny, he has one speed, RUN, he doesn't Walk. He also thought it was a blast to turn around in a circle until he got dizzy. Silly Boy!


Taking a break with Bama, even though we were in the shade, it was HOT!!!
Well over a 100 even in the shade. It was fun to watch Mason run around and explore though.

Thanks for the ride along guys, it made the trip much more enjoyable. Even though, Mason really doesn't enjoy the car ride so much. Sorry Bud.

MOMENTS & MEMORIES

We had a BLAST on our visit with the kids.




Blaise got the only strike of the game and earned him the nick name of "STRIKE".
Look at his form, that ball is heading straight down the alley.

Caiden's form is a bit different, but he was a natural bowler, he did awesome, which earned him the nick name "KING PIN" well actually he wanted it a different name so we compromised, he was officially called
"K.P. Farticus" (that kid cracks us up)

Avery was fearless, she marched up to that line and pushed that ball with all her might, then sang and danced while patiently waiting for her ball to reach the pins. She was ADORABLE.

So let me share some back ground

info regarding these photo's.

No, he isn't trying out for next top model

You see, there were bumper boats at this arcade also, and when he saw the water for the boats, he started taking his shirt off so he could go swimming, see there is a perfectly good explanation.

Needless to say, he was less than amused when he was told he could not go swimming, and even less amused when all of us would not stop laughing at him standing in the middle of everything, dressed like that and striking what appeared to be the perfect model pose with just the right amount of model attitude.

Now, the best part though is when some random guy walks by, and notices Urban, does a complete double take, takes a couple more steps, turns completely around looks back at Urban and says "Hey, that's awesome dude, you stick with your style buddy, no matter what anyone else thinks".

It was H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!!!

We have so much fun when we are hanging out with our Kids and Grand Kids, I only wish we were able to do it more often.
