Dear Editor,
Someone made a huge error in judgement, I would like to believe that it was just an oversight, bad judgement, and not an intentional action, of someone trying to make a statement. Either way, it felt very disrespectful to this Arizonan.
Yesterday, as I was driving through town, I noticed a work truck and three workers at the side of the road, taking down the flags of the United States of America, that had been put up on the street light posts.
I looked closely to make sure that is truly what I was seeing. Yes, they are taking them down. I was shocked, I felt outrage, I just couldn't believe it, how disrespectful. I just kept thinking, what, are you kidding me, today January 20, 2009. The day that the 44th President of the United States of America is being sworn into office, and you are taking the flags down. Seriously, I mean really who was in charge of this stupidity. You mean no one, caught this, and thought, hey this is bad timing, we shouldn't take these flags down until tomorrow?
I'm assuming, the flags had originally been put up in honor of Martin Luther King day. So yes, that holiday was over, so in theory you could take the flags down. But, not on the very same day that our new President, the Commander and Chief of this great country for which these flags represent, is being sworn in.
I consider my self a patriotic person, I love my country. Regardless if I voted for him or not, he is now my President. This citizen feels that on the day that a new President is being sworn into office is a day that deserves a show of respect and patriotism. In my opinion flags should be put up to honor such a day, not taken down.
I hope someone feels embarrassed by their bad judgement.

Well Arizona is pretty much ganster and do what they want, I mean they are the only ones to not observe daylight savings, thats gangster in my book!
I still can't beleie they took the flags down though, guess they havn't been watching the news about Obama taking office?
Wow talk about an error in judgement! Some one should be in trouble! I'm sure it was not intentional, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least they had flags. Fallbrook never flies the flag on any holiday! Go figure
Hmmm, that does sound a bit strange. They should just leave the flags up all year round. It's always a nice feeling to see an American flag blowing in the breeze.
That is bad judgement.
We had flags in our yard for MLK day, the boys scouts put flags up in yards for 9 U.S. holidays, but they weren't up for the inaguration, but at least they took them down Monday night so it wouldn't seem unpatriotic.
Very odd. Sometimes I wish I could see in to peoples' minds.
